How Hollywood Got A Movie Piracy Bill Passed By Canada

Posted on 03 June 2007 by Stuart

The Governator aka (Arnold Schwarzenegger)For over three years now the US has been trying to convince Canada to introduce cinema anti-camcording legislation. Letters sent directly to the Canadian Prime Minister from senators Senators Diane Feinstein (D-Calif) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) failed as did putting Canada on a U.S. government watch list three years ago.

What seems to have worked however is sending the Governator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to Canada on a three day trade mission Schwarzenegger left Canada with assurances from the ministers of Heritage, Justice and Industry that a bill to address the piracy problem will be introduced to the House of Commons.

Finally on June 1, 2007, the Government of Canada responded to U.S. pressure and introduced anti-camcording legislation. This shows video how the movie piracy issue leaped to the front of the line.
