ShareVirus getting back on its feet after a double hacking and database leak
Posted on 14 August 2007 by Stuart
ShareVirus the popular edonkey indexing web site has been hacked not once but twice in the past few weeks, the second hack resulting in the release of it’s database onto the ed2k network.
Over the past few years ShareVirus has grown into one of the largest and most popular sites within the ed2k community. However it would seem that they have made a few enemies on this journey after the site was hacked twice in the space of a fortnight. At the present time only the message board is available with the main page being offline at the time of writing.
ShareVirus Administrator UKmomma has posted some information on the forums, the post indicates that both hacks were carried out in the same way and that 15,000 members were deleted in the second attack as well as the database being released onto the ed2k network.
Whats interesting from the forum post is that they claim to know who carried out these attacks and released the database, Their reference in the post to FTI which is another highly popular ed2k site may indicate a small turf war happening in the ed2k community, However they provide no substance of evidence for that within the post.
