P2PViNE Social News Site Launches New Look and improved usability
Posted on 27 March 2008 by Stuart
P2PViNE just got a whole lot better, over the past week or so you will have noticed some major changes happening at P2PViNE most notably being the look and feel of the site along with adding a few new features for members and webmasters to interact and submit content more easily. P2PViNE is a Socially Controlled News site dedicated to bringing you the latest information on P2P, File-Sharing and all other topics related to these genre’s. I started P2PViNE as a large amount of file sharing and p2p news gets released every day unfortunately most never gets covered or discovered with only the big stories seeing the light of day, this is where P2PViNE can help to discover articles that you might not otherwise have found. For more detailed background and description of the site read on.
The main function of P2PViNE is to allow you the reader, member, webmaster to take back control and have your say on news related to file sharing, p2p, and the technology surrounding these topics. Members can easily submit content to the Upcoming News section at P2PViNE allowing other members to vote or discuss the content they find most interesting, the most popularly voted content then gets promoted to the Published news section of the site. This system much like the popular digg.com and places total control of content displayed at P2PViNE exclusivley back into the hands of it’s members, you decide whats news is worthy and no editors are involved in the process.
Now you know a little about P2PViNE you may be asking why? digg does the same job and is larger. This is true but digg is a little too large and can prove to be a leborious task to locate p2p and file-sharing content easily on digg, especially amongst the plethora of other articles submitted daily. Another downside of digg for me personally is again related to content discovery at digg within their categories p2p, file sharing stories can be mixed in amongst 1000’s of other non related entries and in the incorrect or unsuitable category, again making specific content hard to find.
Here at P2PViNE we do not and will not censor any written content submitted to the site unless your submitted content breaks current copyright laws, their are lots of site’s on the Internet to download movies, tv-shows etc from that is not the purpose of P2PViNE, links to torrent files, direct downloads etc will be discarded by a moderator, articles, news and videos only please. In lehman’s terms don’t submit the latest Hollywood blockbuster that’s listed at MiniNova to P2PViNE.
So now that i have waffled on longer than anticipated what have we done to improve the site these past few weeks.
The first thing you will have noticed if you have ever visited the site before is our brand new design, the color scheme is now much lighter than before and should be easier on the eyes. We have also now moved server as our old one simply wasn’t good enough, the site should hopefully be much faster and smoother when browsing and submitting than before. It’s still not as fast as we would like but this is something we will be continually working on over the coming weeks, the speed and reliability compared to our old server though is 100 times better and should prove to be a better overall browsing experience for everyone.
Webmasters and users alike now have more ways to integrate with P2PViNE than ever before by using our tools selection which is being added to regularly. Tools include Browser Submit Buttons, FireFox Plug-ins, Wordpress Plug-ins, Google Widgets, Website Submission tools etc this means you can track or submit stories to P2PViNE along with being able to integrate P2PViNE features into your own website with ease.
Their are many features to the website that you can utilize and in the coming days i will be writing specific articles covering most of them, this should help webmasters and members to get the most out of the site.
I hope you enjoy the improvements and take the time to check out the site and participate.
