NForce.nl Scene Release NFO Listing Site Moved To NFOhump.com
Posted on 12 June 2008 by Stuart
Accompanying every Scene Release is a small text file titled .nfo which contains information about that particular release, NFOrce.nl a popular scene release NFO listing site has recently changed it’s domain name and is now located at nfohump.com.
What Are .nfo Files
.nfo (also written .NFO or NFO, a contraction of “info”, or “information”) is a commonly used three-letter filename extension of ASCII or extended ASCII text files that accompany other files and contain information about them. Such NFO files can be viewed with text editors or dedicated NFO viewers. They commonly also contain elaborate ASCII art.
NFO files usually contain release information about a software program. They are commonly associated with warez groups who include them to declare credit of and “bragging rights” over a said release. Similarly they are often found in demoscene productions, where the respective groups include them for credits, contact details, and the software requirements.
nfohump.com list these nfo text files relating to the latest releases in the scene, it’s worth noting that only the most popular scene releases are listed not everything that’s released makes it to nfohump. A popular misconception for users new to file sharing is that this type of site will allow them to download the content displayed in the .nfo files, this is not the case but it does help you see what scene content may be available on p2p networks.

Another site worth taking a look at is VCDQuality.com, similar to nfohump only VCDQuality only lists movie and tv show nfo files along with screenshots taken from the actual release.
Update: Seems we caused some confusion as i linked to the wrong site mediahump.com instead of nfohump.com, we have fixed the link above now, sorry for the confusion. Mediahump is also owned by NFOrce and is an image upload and storage site that is free for all to use.
