Gamers are Turning To Hamachi For Their Online Gaming Server Needs

Hamachi Online GamingThe advancment of broadband technology has seen Games available on file sharing networks getting 1000’s of downloads per day so much so that the BBC wrote an article in March of this year titled “Rampant piracy threatens PC games“, One of the major drawbacks of playing cracked games over retail however is that very rarely can you have the full online experience of game play. At least that used to be the case until people started hosting games over their own private networks using the Hamachi software.

In recent months gamers have really started to push the use of hamachi to host virtual LAN parties with their friends for every conceivable game title you can think of, Gamers with Retail and Cracked games are both using this method with great success to play against opponents from around the world.

Hamachi is a UDP-based virtual private networking system. Its peers are helped by a third node called a mediation server to locate each other and to bootstrap the connection between them. The connection itself is direct and, once established, no traffic flows through the hamachi servers. Two of the most popular games being played at the moment on hamachi networks are Call Of Duty 4 and Gears Of War.

Here we will briefly explain how to play Gears Of War with hamachi as it is not straight click and thou shall play effort. We also assume you also have the hamachi client installed and running.

1. Install this registry file:

2. Download the fixed GOW files and follow the instructions.

3. Choosing the preferred network connection

Windows XP:

a. Click the startmenu, click run and type in ncpa.cpl, click ok

b. In the new window, click advanced, then click advanced settings.

c. In the adapter/bindings tab under connections, use the up/down arrows to relocate the “hamachi” network connection to the top. This will make gow choose the hamachi network connection as default.

d. Now fire up Gears Of War and host/join a coop/versus game through the hamachi server without any problems. No more “no host found” or “connection to host lost” messages.

Windows Vista:

a. Click the startmenu, type in ncpa.cpl into the search field, click ENTER

b. In the new window, click “alt” on your keyboard, click the advanced tab, then click advanced settings.

c. In the adapter/bindings tab under connections, use the up/down arrows to relocate the “hamachi” network connection to the top. This will make gow choose the hamachi network connection as default.

d. Now fire up Gears Of War and host/join a coop/versus game through the hamachi server without any problems. No more “no host found” or “connection to host lost” messages.
