emule ed2k server.met list that is free from fake servers
Posted on 09 June 2007 by Stuart
For some time eDonkey2000 p2p network users have had to put up with the inconvenience of fake servers appearing in their clients. Their are a few precautions that anyone can take so as not to connect with these fake servers from within your eMule client.
Protocol Obfuscation – Turn this on in your emule client.
Back in April TorrentFreak covered an article titled Protect Yourself from eDonkey Spy Servers the article covers Protocol Obfuscation setup within emule. I would recommend you all read the article and enable Protocol Obfuscation now if you haven’t done so already.
Server.met
First off goto your server tab in emule and delete all your current servers that are listed in your client. Next goto Options/Server and untick the three boxes like the image below
Click Apply.
Now update your server.met file manually and from a trusted source that has fake free server lists. One such place is www.server-met.de who guarantee fake free server lists for your client.
Another page that has a list of good servers is located at www.emule-mods.de a popular site for emule client MoD downloads.
You should now not connect to or find any fake servers in your emule clients server list.
We would also recommend the use of an IP Filter or PeerGuardian for some added safety.
Every little helps, right!
