Four tracks from the new upcoming U2 album scheduled from release in November have been leaked onto youtube. It would seem the source of the leak is from no other than Bono himself after a fan recorded the track’s being blasted at high volume from Bono’s holiday home in the South of France.

A tourist and fan of U2 holidaying in the south of France was savvy and sharp enough to record what he heard then race home to stick the clips on YouTube. The tracks come from U2’s upcoming album which is rumored to be titled “No Line On The Horizon” and is not scheduled for release until November 2008.

Four songs have been posted including the title track and Sexy Boots, which will be the first single. The other two leaked tracks are thought to be called Moment Of Surrender and For Your Love.

Although the sound quality of the tracks isn’t exactly CD quality they are still listen able and would seem to show a return to form from the Irish supergroup. We doubt U2 will be as happy as some of their fans are with this leak.

In a recent video interview Grammy award winning and 10 million albums sold R&B artist Joss Stone was asked what her thoughts were on piracy and people who download illegal copies of her music. Surprisingly Joss thinks piracy is great, and we think Joss is too.

When asked the question “what do you think of piracy, and people who download your songs off the Internet”, Stone replied “I think it’s great,” adding “Yeah, I love it. I think it’s brilliant and I’ll tell you why. Music should be shared. I believe that this is how music turned into like, some crazy business. The only part about music that I dislike is the business that is attached to it. Now, if music is free, then there is no business, there is just music.”

It looks like Stone has the same mind set as other artists like Nine Inch Nail’s, Radio Head, who have already embraced file sharing distribution for free. We are sure the RIAA will love her comments especially the fact she claims other artists have been “Brainwashed” by the music industry, brainwashed may not be the right term more a situation of being controlled by the incoming cash for the record company.

Stone’s philosophy seems to be have the music in digital format for free and pay to see my live shows, which for me is the perfect business model for musician’s at the current time. Digital replication of music is too high quality, fast and easy to obtain to retain any real value nowadays, for a live show however you have no other option but to pay for that experience. And that’s the key for me is to promote your music for free or pay what you like and then turn your popularity into ticket sales.

The economics of music include two main revenue streams: record sales and touring profits. Record sales are a) unpredictable; and b) divided up among many parties. If you learn how to tour efficiently, meanwhile, the profits including not only ticket sales but also corporate sponsorship, t-shirt sales, etc., can be staggering. You can essentially control how much you earn by adding more dates, whereas it’s hard to control how many records you sell.

Today i took some time to add ShareThis functionality to the Main P2PViNE website, the original Add This function was limited in it’s options only allowing 5 or so sites that you could share content too. ShareThis is a big improvement on the old feature and now allows you to submit content from P2PViNE to most of the popular social web sites along with the option to post content to your blog or send content to a friend by email.

On each submitted story you will now see the “Share This” link and icon, clicking this will allow you to share the post on 33 of the top social bookmarking websites along with easily posting it to your WordPress, Blogger, Typepad blog, Facebook Profile, Myspace Profile and Twitter.

So now that i have waffled on longer than anticipated what have we done to improve the site these past few weeks.

The first thing you will have noticed if you have ever visited the site before is our brand new design, the color scheme is now much lighter than before and should be easier on the eyes. We have also now moved server as our old one simply wasn’t good enough, the site should hopefully be much faster and smoother when browsing and submitting than before. It’s still not as fast as we would like but this is something we will be continually working on over the coming weeks, the speed and reliability compared to our old server though is 100 times better and should prove to be a better overall browsing experience for everyone.

Webmasters and users alike now have more ways to integrate with P2PViNE than ever before by using our tools selection which is being added to regularly. Tools include Browser Submit Buttons, FireFox Plug-ins, Wordpress Plug-ins, Google Widgets, Website Submission tools etc this means you can track or submit stories to P2PViNE along with being able to integrate P2PViNE features into your own website with ease.

Their are many features to the website that you can utilize and in the coming days i will be writing specific articles covering most of them, this should help webmasters and members to get the most out of the site.

Since the demise of tv-links a few sites tried to fill the void that was generated with one of the most successful being sidereel.com, sidereel is a pretty good site with better features but for some reason users still pined for a tv-links replacement.

This is where www.tv-links.cc have seen a niche and seem to be doing pretty well out of it. The site looks very similar to the old tv-links.co.uk in design and it has plenty of content available for the media hungry to consume. An interesting message indicating that the site will also be hosting torrents in the coming weeks is posted on the homepage and quoted below….

Personally i am not a user of these type of sites mainly due to the low video quality, i like my HD i do see the appeal of the quick tv fix though and understand why these sites are so popular. One thing to note is that a lot of the videos available more than always seem to have chinese subs at the bottom of the video, cool if your chinese annoying if your a westerner.

The current legal position surrounding hyperlinking to copyrighted content at the moment can at best be described as vague. The original tv-links grew into one of the most trafficked websites on the Internet in 2007, only time will tell if tv-links.cc will be able to fend off the inevitable legal challenges they will face in the future.
